Last month we spoke of a great restaurant on the South Shore, Not Just Seafood in Rockland. This month we'll choose one towards the west in LaCantina Italiana in Framingham. This is a wonderful family restaurant that caters to the customer. Proportions are very good and you'll find lots of choices on their menu. The weekend nights can get busy! Lines can start forming early so a reservation or an early arrival may be necessary. They have a web site which can be found on our Framingham page, http://www.dininginmass.com/508/framingham.htm. They are also the makers of Fannys Italian Salad Dressing. Once you try it, we're sure you'll pick up a bottle or two! It can also be purchased from their web site, www.gofannys.com. Enjoy.

For those of you who enjoy skiing, be sure to check out our ski pages. We have listings from all over the New England area. We also have the ski hotlines, links to their web sites and hotels in the areas at a discount.

As always, be sure to enter our monthly contest. We're always giving away a gift certificate to a restaurant somewhere in MA. You can also tune in to John Rega's "Fooding Around" radio show. He gives away gift certificates as well. More ways to win from DiningInMass.com

A "funny" recipe for the holidays:

Holiday Fruitcake Recipe

1 cup water
1 cup sugar
4 large eggs
2 cups dried fruit
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 stick of butter
1 cup brown sugar
lemon juice
nuts
1 gallon whiskey

Sample the whiskey to check for quality. Take a large bowl. Check the
whiskey again to be sure it is of the highest quality. Pour one level cup
and drink. Repeat.

Turn on the electric mixer; beat 1 cup of butter in large fluffy bowl. Add 1
teaspoon sugar and beat again. Make sure the whiskey is still OK. Cry
another tup.

Turn off mixer. Break 2 legs and add to the bowl. Chuck in the cup of dried
fruit. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers
pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the whiskey to check for
tonsiticity.

Next, sift 2 cups of salt. Or something. Who cares? Check the whiskey.

Now sift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add 1 table. Spoon. Of sugar
or something. Whatever you can find.

Grease the oven. Turn the cake tin 350 degrees. Don't forget to beat off the
turner. Throw the bowl out the window. Check the whiskey again. Go to bed.
Who the hell likes fruitcake anyway?
